Baked Apples Are Delicious!


Every fall, we go apple picking. And every fall, we end up with a peck of apples to get creative with. In the past, I’ve made Apple Jam, Apple Bread, Dutch Babies – the list goes on and on.

But I’ve never made baked apples – not ever. So after a recent apple picking extravaganza, I decided to make some baked apples and I wasn’t disappointed.

On Long Island, September is ideal apple picking time. As soon as school is back in session, we get out our calendars and fill up our Saturdays with all of our favorite fall activities.

Over the years, we’ve learned (the hard way) that if you wait until October to go apple picking on Long Island, you may just find yourself empty handed. With this in mind, we headed “Out East” over the weekend and set our sights on an orchard that we’ve never tried before, Woodside Orchards, in Aquebogue, NY. T

In our neck of the woods, school doesn’t until after Labor Day, so our kids were still enjoying their summer vacation today – even though most kids have already gone back to school! But while they’ve been playing all day, my sister and I were in full-on “Oh My God – School Starts Tomorrow And Where On Earth Did The Summer Go?” mode.
