Now that school is out, we're busy over here at We Know Stuff putting a fun summer learning plan into place! Our last few posts have brought attention to avoiding Summertime Blues and how to Keep Kids Learning this summer. This summer, we hope to provide you with some tips and tricks to keep your entire family happy and engaged while school is out.

Each summer we have our kids make a "Must Do" list, filled with all the fun things they hope to see. First on our family's list was a summer visit to the Bronx Zoo. Next to Disney, this is my children's favorite place to visit. There is always something new and exciting to see, and you can imagine how thrilled our kids were when we heard about the latest attraction at the zoo…dinosaurs!

This past May, the Bronx Zoo launched it's newest exhibit, Dinosaur Safari. This is an amazing exhibit that combines fun and learning in a unique way. At the beginning of the ride, you are handed your very own dinosaur Field Guide. The field guide compares specific dinosaurs adaptions to species at the zoo with similar adaptions. Young dino hunters will love the educational comparison in the guide.

The ride itself has guests sitting in a paleontologist's wagon that lets you get up close to over 20 animatronic dinosaurs. You will be amazed by a life size triceratops, brachiosaurus and T. Rex! With dinosaurs roaring, snarling and spitting, you will be on the edge of your seat waiting for what is around the corner!

Please note, if you have a child with sensory challenges, this ride may not be the best for them. The roars from the dinosaurs can be a bit unsettling, along with the vibrations of the ride and the jungle sounds emitted from the speakers. Younger children could be frightened, but older kids will be sure to love it!

When the ride is over, you can visit the field site and dig for fossils. Young dinosaur enthusiasts will love digging in the sand pits and exploring artifacts! You can also visit the Asia Theater to see Adaptations! A Dinosaur Musical.
