Kids' Craft: Bug Hunting with Recycled Jam Jars

We Know Stuff is a blog written by two sisters; we write about cooking, crafting, gardening, raising a family, and going places with our kids. We’re sisters. We used to go-to-work, but now we’re stay-at-home-moms. And, over the course of a few child-rearing years, we’ve realized that we know stuff…maybe even a lot of stuff. So instead of just keeping all of this “stuff” to ourselves, we’re going to share it with you. Disclaimer: We’re honest - sometimes to a fault. We’ll tell you what we know, but only as we see it – warts and all. We’re never going to win mother of the year, or daughter of the year, and probably not wife of the year either – but at least we had fun trying.

Kids' Craft: Bug Hunting with Recycled Jam Jars

Last week, we hosted a Garden Party for our Kids. To make sure that the party catered to both our girls AND our boys, we did a variety of activities. As seen earlier this week, the girls really enjoyed making their own terrariums, but the boys were way more excited to go on a Bug Hunt with us!

This activity was so easy to do, especially when we used Recycled Jam Jars as the temporary home for our creepy crawlies.

KIDS' CRAFT: BUG HUNTING WITH RECYCLED JAM JARS

Materials:
* Clear container with a lid
* Grass, leaves, twigs, etc
* Bugs!

Directions:

Step 1: We should be embarassed to even call these steps! Get your jar. Throw in some earth matter. Start bug hunting! Have fun! (Safari hats are optional!)
