Our Blessings Count #ourblessingscount

Last week, my sister and I attended our children's Nativity Pageant at their Catholic school down the road. We had experienced a lot of chaos in the days beforehand and it was the first time that we had been able to truly sit down, catch our breath, and experience Christmastime in all its glory.

As our children made their way down to the stage, we couldn't help but laugh as they frantically searched for us among the aisles. And when they did find us, each child shouted out with glee, "MOMMY!", and then continued on their way with smiles plastered all over their lovely little faces.

My sister and I sat back in our seats, laughing with our mother, about how enthusiastic our children were as they stood there singing and dancing their hearts out. The school children take their Nativity Pageant very seriously and really get into it. Needless to say, there's lots of jingle bells ringing, hands a-clapping, and all sorts of impromptu dancing. It's adorable - so much so, that it's impossible not to smile from ear to ear as you watch them belt out "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus" and "I'm gettinhref="" for Christmas".


In our school, religion is a part of our children's education and we are blessed that the children are able to show their love for Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. This makes the finale the best part - for all of the children come back onto the risers and sing their final songs around the Manger. It's incredibly touching, especially when they sing "Silent Night", and it truly makes you grateful for all of the blessings in your life.

So as we left the school, we were filled with holiday spirit. We were recharged and able to focus on what is most important to us - Our Children. Their health. Their education. Their happiness. Their safety.


During the holidays, it's way too easy to put way too much pressure on ourselves - and we are incredibly fortunate that our school's Nativity Pageant reminded us of our own personal mantra: Our Kids Come First. So as we stop to think about all that we have to be grateful for, we want to encourage each of you to participate in Our Blessings Count with Mercy.
