The other day my daughter and nephew came running into the kitchen yelling over each other that they found something! They found something in the backyard and I HAD to come see it. When I asked what it was they told me….
"A finger bone coming out of an egg."
I was scared. Almost too scared to go and look in my backyard. They were so convincing I really didn't want to be the adult in the situation.
I didn't know if I should make them wait inside, while I went looking for this finger bone. I decided to bring them with me. If it was indeed a…finger bone, they had already seen it (and I wasn't brave enough to go alone.)
This is what we found…
You have NO IDEA how happy I was to see that. The picture in my head was not nearly as innocent as a little bulb. I very quickly explained that they were Snow Drop bulbs. As we looked around we saw many more eggs and bones. I showed them the flowers they would turn into if we poked them back down into the dirt.
That was good enough for them. They spent the rest of the afternoon pressing my uprooted bulbs into the ground. Blissfully unaware of the fresh sprout of grays poking out of my head.

Too funny! Snowdrops will never be the same for me…
