Are you wondering what to do on a sick days with kids? Are they too sick to go to school, but not sick enough to sleep all day? Disney Imagicademy can help! Disclosure:I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
I’ll be honest with you, this winter has been a rough one for my kids. Although the falling snow was beautiful, it brought plenty of germs and viruses to both school and home. My kids have been sick one after the other for weeks. It seems that each time they head back to school, they come right back home with something entirely new and start the process all over again. Chicken soup is on the stove at least three times a week, and I have been spending most of my cold winter days keeping my kids warm and comfortable.
As a mom, it is really tough to see your kids sick, sad and with very little energy to spare. This past week, I marveled at how quickly my son conquered the stomach virus that his sister had so lovingly shared with him. He wasn’t better for more than three days when the flu hit home. He was so happy to be free from his little sick bed on the couch that he became one very unhappy camper when he had to go right back to it.
We had already burned through our movie library and even the old movies we had stored way up in the cloud. He was officially bored and I was getting a bit desperate. That’s when I decided to download Disney’s Imagicademy. Disney Imagicademy Parents is a brand new free app that allows parents to connect with the Imagicademy community and gather information that can be used to engage with their child in meaningful ways. I was impressed by the Mickey’s Art Activities and Imagine That! categories.
I showed a few of the activities to my son and he quickly decided on the Sketchbook and Idea Journal activity. We pulled out a sketchbook and spent the afternoon recreating scenes from Disney’s The Lion King. I sat with my son as he sketched his favorite animals from the movie. He told me when he was feeling better he was going to bring his sketchbook to school, so he could show his friends.
I love the broad range of ideas and activities that I found on the Disney Imagicademy Parents app. I also found it helpful that I was able to favorite many of the ideas for my news feed. I know that the next time I am faced with a bored or sick child, I will have a stockpile of ideas to entertain him with.
Later that day, I downloaded the Mickey’s Magical Math World app. We were on our way yet another doctor’s appointment and I knew my son would be tired and antsy sitting in the waiting room. As we waited patiently, my son zoomed off with Mickey for an intergalactic math adventure. He was having too much fun to even notice that he was brushing up on his problem solving, sorting, counting, adding and subtraction skills! Disney Imagicademy Parents also serves as a portal into the Mickey’s Magical Math World app, which allows me to see my child’s latest creations, provide encouragement with a virtual “high five” and share their accomplishments with my family and friends.
Whether you are facing bored kids on a sick day or you just want to encourage your children to expand their math skills, I strongly recommend downloading both of the Disney Imagicademy apps!

Thank you for this post! This very useful for moms in choosing the kind of toys that they will give to their children. we should always give them toys that enable their minds to develop. And most importantly we will make sure that they enjoy the stuff they are into.
