As much as we love listening to our children discuss who is building the better whatchamacallit in Mind Craft, we do like to limit their screen time. In our homes, we’ve found that when we let the kids overdose on their favorite electronic devices, 9 times out of 10, they turn into cranky, unmanageable wildebeests when we finally do ask them to turn it off.
This is why we believe in board games. Not only do they get kids off of their devices, but they do so nicely. Because when you have something FUN to do once you shut down your iPad, there’s no reason to sulk about the house mumbling, “But Moooooooooom, we have NOTHING to do!!!!”
We also love the family component of board games. Nothing livens up a yucky, gloomy day like sitting down with your family and playing a game together. We’ve included some favorite classics in this list as well as some new ones that you may not have heard of yet. Regardless of which one you choose, we guarantee some happy smiles this year…
