Dirt Cupcakes & Muddy Milkshakes

Dirt Cupcakes, Kids Garden Party, www.weknowstuff.us.com
Recently, we were asked to be in Daily Buzz Moms Daily 9 for their Party On feature. We happily agreed and created an adorable outdoor Garden Party for our kids.

To keep the party all about the kids, we let them decide what we should eat at our little Garden Party. They were thrilled to be "in charge" and after a brief conversation amongst themselves, they excitedly declared that we'd be eating Dirt Cupcakes and Muddy Milkshakes.

I'm not sure if I should be embarassed about this or not, but we always have a box or two of cake mix lingering about, so the request was easy enough to produce. I was even able to find some unused terra cotta pots hiding in the garage from last year to "pot them up in".

These special Garden Party snacks are so easy to make – and they'll make you look super cool at your next kids' party.

DIRT CUPCAKES & MUD MILK

Ingredients / Supplies:
* 1 box of chocolate cake mix
* 1 container of chocolate frosting
* 1 package of Nabisco's Famous Chocolate Wafers
* Mini, terra cotta pots, washed and dried
* Gummy Worms or bugs
* Plain Milk
* Vanilla Frozen Yogurt
* Chocolate Syrup
* Oreo cookie straws

Directions:
Step 1:
Make the cake mix according to the package directions. Pour the batter into 24 muffin cups, filling each cup two-thirds full. Bake according to the instructions, and set aside to cool.

Step 2: Using a food processor, roughly pulse the chocolate wafers so they look like dirt.

Step 3: After the cupcakes have cooled, place them in the terra-cotta pots. (If you can't find mini-pots, just place a whole chocolate wafer in the terra cotta pot first – this will act as a platform for the cupcake!) Frost the cupcakes and then top with the crushed chocolate wafers.

Step 4: Cut the gummi worms in half, and stick one half into the dirt so that the gummy worm looks like it's crawling out of the cupcake.

Step 5: Pour milk, ice cream and chocolate syrup into a large blender. Quickly blend until ice cream is just combined. Pour into glasses and serve with an Oreo cookie straw.

Step 6: Arrange your Dirt Cupcakes & Muddy Milkshakes on the table. Make sure to have your camera ready as they dig in!
