How to Make a Catnip Mouse

We Know Stuff How to Make a Catnip Mouse
Right now my cat hates me. Really really hates me. I know I am going to find a hairball hacked somewhere. I am guessing in my shoe or on my pillow. Bailey is like most cats I know. She does her own thing and comes around when she wants something. I love her and I try to make her happy, but she just isn’t into me.

As for her hating me, it was not my fault. I had my brother and his dog, Sydney, over for dinner last night. Everything was going so well until I saw his hell-beast chewing on something under the table. I thought it might be one of the kid’s toys, but then I saw the fur sticking to her giant slobbery lips….

Relax! It wasn’t the cat.

It was the cat’s mouse. Her most favorite mouse, she sleeps with it every night! It’s her lovey and Sydney ATE it. I couldn’t believe my eyes. She just tipped her head back and swallowed it. Judging by my brother’s delayed reaction, Sydney must eat many non-food items.

So now I am making a new toy for my cat.

HOW TO MAKE A CATNIP MOUSE TOY

Materials:

  • Fabric (I used an old linen place mat.)
  • Fabric Ribbon
  • Needle & Thread
  • Catnip

Directions:

Step 1: Draw your pattern on a piece of paper. I drew the mouse and ears on construction paper. Cut out your pattern. Trace it onto your fabric with a pen or chalk.

Step 2: Cut out the shapes.

Step 3: You will be sewing it inside out so you won’t see the threading. Sew the pieces together and leave a hole to tuck the mouse inside out.

Step 4: Turn mouse right side out.

Step 5: Sew on the ears, eyes, nose and tail.

Step 6: Stuff with catnip and sew closed.

I have to tell you guys, Bailey went CRAZY. I was a little afraid of her. I hid it on top of the fireplace so she couldn’t get to it. By day 2 she had ripped BOTH ears off the poor mouse!

Haha! That’s great! I would have to lock myself away if I ever made one – my cats develop super-kitty power to get access to cat nip!

Oh my God – you are too funny! I can just picture Bailey shooting you the evil eye! I can’t wait to make some of these for Simon & Roscoe! Very cool.
