DIY Felt Bat Craft

Are you looking for a really cute Halloween kids craft? Then look no further. This easy DIY bat craft is easy to make and only takes a few minutes to hang.

I love decorating for Halloween. I couldn’t help but notice that after I put all of the decorations up, my chandelier looked very left out. I found some fall colored berry garland to spiff it up, but it was still missing something.

I had some black felt left over from the Glitzy Gourd Kitties and thought I might be able to craft some sort of decoration from it. As I was flipping through the Gooseberry Patch’s Halloween magazine (which was a nice little gift from my sister – thanks D!), I came across a stencil for a black bat. I decided to make little black felt bats to hang from the chandelier.

This little craft is very easy to make. Cutting the bats out took the most time, but once that was done the rest of the craft was very easy to put together.

A LITTLE BATTY

Materials:

  • Black felt
  • Needle and Thread
  • Scissors
  • Template

Directions:

Step 1: Find a template or create your own out of card stock. Cut out your bat.

Step 2: Place template on the felt and cut around it.

Step 3: Use the felt bat as the template. The felt bat will stay put a little easier and not slide around when cutting.

Step 4: Thread your needle (I chose light colored thread to make the bats look like they were flying under the chandelier). Sew through one wing and back down through the opposite wing to create a loop.

Step 4: Hang your bats from a chandelier or any other spot that needs a little Halloween fun!

Happy Halloween,
