I was looking for an Easter craft to do with my kids and came across Family Fun’s Bluebird Egg craft. It involves decorating empty egg shells. We decided to make Bunny Eggs. All you need are eggs, paint, glue and some extras you have laying around the house.
KIDS CRAFT: PAINTED BUNNY EGGS
Materials:
- 1 raw egg
- 1 straight pin or needle
- Egg carton
- Acrylic paint
- Foam letters: M, W, X or Ys work best
- Decorations: Googley eyes, pom poms, cotton balls
Directions:
Step 1: Wash and dry the raw egg. Poke a hole in the top and bottom of the egg. Position the egg over the sink and blow through the top hole, allowing the inside of the egg to seep out. Put the empty egg in an egg carton to dry. (Be sure to wash hands after handling.)
Step 2: Paint with acrylic paint. Let eggs dry.
Step 3: Create ears, eyes and teeth from construction paper. We used googley eyes, but it looks cute either way. Use mini pom poms or a cotton ball for the tail. Glue everything to the egg and let dry. My kids were having trouble decorating the egg as they rolled around. I stood the eggs on some foam letters with the sticky side up. This gave it a stable base. If you use a Y or X they will look like bunny feet!
P.S. According to my daughter, no bunny is complete without a tutu. Feel free to use scrap cloth for a “tutu” or skirt for your little girl Bunny Egg!
Thanks for Reading!
