Kids Craft: Cupcake Liner Sunflowers

https://www.weknowstuff.us.com Kid's Craft - Cupcake Liner Sunflowers
We recently threw a birthday party for my mother-in-law. I suggested to my daughter that we go into the yard and make her “Busia” a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her party. As we went into the backyard armed with our safety scissors, we were disappointed by the lack of blooms. We were able to scrape together a few flowers, but only enough for a tiny vase. Definitely not enough for a beautiful birthday bouquet!

My daughter was crushed. So we came up with a new plan. We would just have to make her some very special flowers, flowers she could keep forever! We went hunting for a stick and then we gathered up some white cupcake liners. This is a very simple and fun project to do with your kids. We made ours into sunflowers, but these flowers would look great in a large assortment of colors!

(My mother-in-law loved her flowers so much, she is proudly displaying them in her kitchen!)

KIDS CRAFT: CUPCAKE LINER SUNFLOWERS

Materials:

  • White cupcake liners (or light pastel)
  • Craft glue
  • Coffee grinds
  • Small tree branch
  • Glue gun
  • Ribbon

Directions:

Step 1: Have kids paint the cupcake liners with yellow acrylic paint. Let dry, paint opposite side of liner.

Step 2: Have them smear a thin layer of craft glue onto the center of the cupcake liner.

Step 3: Sprinkle coffee grinds onto the glue. Shake off excess. Let dry.

Step 4: Fold the cupcake liner 4 times to make into a pie slice shape. Have them crumple up the ends of the cupcake liner. The more crinkly it looks, the better. Have an adult hot glue the flowers onto a stick. Tie a ribbon around the end if you like!
