In celebration of National Dog Week, I thought I would make a little dog toy for my sister’s gorgeous English Setters. I don’t have dogs of my own, so I love to spoil Birdy and Liberty as much as I can.
Whenever I dogsit my sister and brother-in-law come back from their trips wondering how it’s possible their dogs have gained 10 lbs a piece. Lots of treats and lots of love! I hope my little slobber buckets love this toy, it was fun to make and a nice way to find a use for all of the loner socks around the house!
DIY DOG TOY: SOCK SNAKE
Materials:
1 dark blue or black long dress sock
1 red sock
1 white sock
1 tennis ball
Step 1:
Cut long strip of material from the neck of the red sock. I used a leftover red toddler sized sock. This will be the snake’s tongue. Make a little fork split at the end if you like. Sew it to the toe end of the dress sock.
Step 2:
Stuff tennis ball into toe end. For the eyes I found a cookie monster sock my son out grew and cut out the eyes. If you don’t have random cookie monster socks laying around (really you don’t???) Well then you can cut out white circles and color pupils with a sharpie marker. Sew onto the toe end.
Step 3:
Tie a tight knot at the base of the tennis ball so it doesn’t fall out. Toss it to your dog and see what happens!
Super cute! So simple, but I would have never thought of it! LOL. Cute pup too!!!
