Everyone knows that my sister and I are Gemini Irish twins. We are exactly 364 days apart. She was my very first birthday present so it’s no wonder that we are ridiculously close.
What most people don’t know is that we are also of Polish and Norwegian descent. You’ll find us reference it in bits and pieces throughout the blog, but it’s very subtle. That’s probably because we resonate most closely with our Irish heritage. When people see my siblings and me, no one can resist telling us how “Irish” we look. If I was the betting kind, I’d say it had something to do with our abundance of freckles.

The funny thing about all of this is that our food preferences rarely skew towards Irish, Polish or Norwegian cuisine. Instead, we love making Italian food. There’s something so warm and inviting about a delicious bowl of pasta that makes you feel so connected to home.
I guess that’s why our kids love “Pasta Sundays.” They know that no matter how wild and unpredictable the week may have been for them at school, once Sunday comes, they’ll be seated at the table with us enjoying spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, and homemade cookies for dessert.

Sharing simple moments around the table with family is such a meaningful part of any meal, which is why we’re happy to partner with Bertolli to celebrate those moments. Francesco Bertolli’s philosophy, “there is nothing more beautiful than sharing great food, conversation and laughter,” continues to inspire the people behind the Bertolli brand today.
That’s why Bertolli is proudly introducing a completely reformulated line of authentic Italian skillet meals that feature a recipe-like, simple ingredient list with transparent packaging that offers a look inside the bag. Bertolli Italian meals are crafted from authentic recipes and ingredients – just like those made in an Italian kitchen. Plus, each Bertolli frozen meal is flash frozen to preserve the dish’s complex flavors and textures – bringing an authentic Italian experience to your dinner table.

As any parent of a picky eater knows being able to show your child what’s inside the bag is a huge plus! Our kids liked that they were able to see the pasta inside and knew right away see what color, shape and sizes the pieces were in the bag of Chicken Florentine and Farfalle. Like I said, picky eaters like knowing what’s what!
Bertolli frozen meals make it easy to dine like an Italian at home and bring elements of “Mangia” to your dinner table with ease even when it’s not Sunday! This has been an awesome time saver for us during the week when the kids have after-school activities. These meals can be on the table in a flash and since it’s Italian food, everyone’s happy. Just add a delicious side salad and your easy weeknight meal is complete! Explore More Ways to Mangia Here.
Happy eating,

This year, Bertolli is encouraging people to live Mangia and eat like Italians do. After talking to a sampling of Americans and Italians[1] , they uncovered several ways that our eating habits differ. Not only do 84% of Italians eat at the table with family, but 70% of Italians eat family-style, compared to 31% of Americans who eat family style. Plus, Italians make lunch the largest meal of the day and are three times more likely to have wine with their meals. Mangia!
[1] These results are from an online survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of Bertolli of over 2,000 nationally representative individuals in the United States and Italy. The U.S. survey with 1,074 completes was conducted between July 28-29, 2016. The Italy survey of 1,013 individuals was conducted from July 29 – August 4, 2016. The margin of error in each country is +/-3.1%
