Moodivator App: Staying Motivated While Managing Depression

“This post was developed in partnership with Pfizer as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.”

Did you know that 15.7 million adults living in the United States have reported experiencing at least one major depressive episode in any given year? This concerning statistic reflects 6.7% of adults living with depression in this country alone. Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders that adults in our community are facing today. Depression affects so many of us, yet unmet needs exist even for the patient that is actively receiving treatment.

You may be wondering, if depression is so common, how are the needs of so many individuals not being met? Unfortunately, there are many reasons why ongoing conditions such as depression are so hard to treat. Mental health disorders are often multifaceted and complex, which requires a unique treatment plan for the individual. Many patients have a hard time sticking to their treatment plan, which may delay the positive effects of treatment.

Fortunately, for those suffering from mental health disorders, there is hope. Which is why we have partnered with Pfizer to help spread the word about their new, free app for iPhones, Moodivator. The Moodivator app is the perfect example of how technology can greatly benefit people suffering from depression. Moodivator gives patients the ability to have a portable, customizable way to supplement the treatment they are receiving. Real-time input allows individuals to monitor their depression on a daily basis. Which can prove helpful and motivational for people suffering from depression.

I recently downloaded the Moodivator app and was impressed by its ease of use. Although I do not suffer from depression, I have a vested interest in the importance of self care. Through a series of prompts I was easily able to choose my goals and add a few of my own. Once a goal is entered, clear action steps were immediately listed to help me achieve my goals. I was able to add the action steps that proved most relevant to my specific goal. I loved that the app provided me with the action steps, so I didn’t have to figure out “how” to reach my goal. The Moodivator app breaks each step down for me, so I don’t have to.

The Moodivator app gives patients the opportunity to track their daily mood, set meaningful goals and share their progress with their mental health care team. The importance of being able to track improvement over time is a valuable addition to any patient’s treatment plan.

Depression is a disease close to our hearts here at We Know Stuff. We actively work with local non-profits in our area to help spread the word. We sincerely hope that every single person struggling knows they are not alone. There is help and through treatment you have the opportunity for a better future.

We encourage you to utilize the Moodivator app, it is an easy, smart and positive way to supplement the treatment you receive. You can learn more about Moodivator by watching this informational video. And remember,  any step you take towards wellness, is a step in the right direction.

“The Moodivator app is not a treatment for depression and does not take the place of your doctor’s care or advice. This app also includes information about a prescription treatment option for depression.”
