Chronic pain can be a runner’s worst enemy. Setting fitness goals after injury or even surgery can become an impossible task. Last year, I would have called myself an avid runner. Morning after morning, I would wake up to make sure I could get a run in before the start of my busy day.
It wasn’t easy and it was hard leaving my warm bed to venture out into the cold. But, I did it time and time again knowing the countless benefits I would carry throughout my day by exercising. Being able to start each day with a clearer mind and a brighter outlook on life made those early mornings possible.
When I sustained a hip injury, my entire outlook on running changed.
I was suddenly fearful of how much pain I would be in after each run. I went from being excited about running to being nervous. If I ran too far or pushed myself too hard – would I end up in pain all the days that followed?
So, I quit.
And, that made me miserable.
Family members and friends asked why I just didn’t take something for the pain. The truth was I didn’t want to have to take an OTC pain pill to feel better. After an x-ray, MRI and hours of physical therapy – I was most interested in a natural, holistic approach to my pain.
I knew the best place to get an education about my options would be to visit my local health food store, Wild by Nature. Over the years, I have found the staff members to be helpful, informative, and an overall invaluable resource. When I explained my chronic hip pain, I was educated about the infinite benefits of taking Curamin® Stop Pain Now.
Curamin® is an award-winning pain relief product that has provided life-changing benefits for hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Knowing that Curamin® is safe, effective and non-addictive, made it an easy choice for me. I chose the Curamin® Extra Strength 60 count to address my pain and was impressed by the results.
My pain was alleviated and that ultimately improved my outlook on running. I am looking forward to easing back into running with Curamin® at my side. If you are looking for an option that doesn’t just mask occasional pain, but gets to the source and stops it, Curamin® may be the answer you are looking for. Curamin® is available at fine health food stores nation wide. Check out the store locator to find a retailer near you.
While I was learning more about Curamin, I also found myself focusing on all of the ways I could help motivate myself to get up and go again. Many of them were common sense, but I found that it was very helpful to write them down on paper and look at them before bed. This way, when my alarm clock goes off, I’ve already tricked my brain into getting motivated!
How To Motivate Yourself To Exercise Regularly
1.) Lay out your workout clothes the night before.
This is one of the biggest tricks I have up my sleeve. If I take the time to set them all out in the bathroom, I have no reason not to go.
2.) Cut out a picture of someone with a shape that you admire.
Take a look at it every so often to motivate you to keep going. I also add some sticky otes with inspirational fitness quotes alongside it.
3.) Keep a fitness journal.
Write down your thoughts about how you feel after your workout. When you’re feeling unmotivated, flip through it. Nothing sparks my interest more than seeing me talk positively about myself!
4.) Treat yourself to new tunes or audiobooks.
Some people like to work out or run in silence. Sometimes, I really do like to let my thoughts run uninterrupted, but I also love cranking up the music and hitting the pavement hard. Before every run, I download a new tune as I walk out the door.
