My daughter, a very picky dresser, gives five pieces of Kids Fashion Advice to help other kids find their sense of style. Get an Osh Kosh Coupon Code too! This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
This week, I had to break some terrible news to my kids: they only have one month of summer vacation left. As you can imagine, it did not go over very well. The kids pretty much went in to full on panic mode about all of the things they still had to do on their bucket list.
As they rambled on about how summer vacation should be three months instead of two months (OMG, no!), I tried to cheer them up. I told them that I would take them shopping for some Back To School clothes so that they could be excited about seeing new clothes in their closets.
My daughter thought this idea was brilliant. She’s quite the fashionista these days. And although we don’t always see eye-to-eye about what matches, she owns her sense of style and always makes it work.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, my daughter has very sensitive skin so we have to be picky about what we buy and where we buy it from. Luckily for us, she still fits in OshKosh B’gosh clothes.
This is a huge win for us because they have really adorable skirts and tees that are perfect for mixing and matching. Plus, they always have coupons online (see the newest one below) that really help you save money.
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to ask her for some kids’ fashion advice and shopping tips for letting kids style themselves.
Kids Fashion Advice: From One Picky Dresser To Another
1.) Know what you like.
My daughter hates tank tops. They freak her out. It has something to do with it touching her little armpits. So, we’ve learned to just bypass them altogether. Short sleeves and long sleeves are her friends as are skirts and tennis skorts. Although we live in NY where it can get really cold out, she prefers to leave her legs bare year round. The only exception is when we go hiking – then she’ll put on a pair of really loose leggings.
2.) Matching isn’t always important.
Apparently, the concept of matching is only important to us parents. My little fashionista pairs some pretty weird stuff together, but somehow, she makes it work. I wish I had her sense of freedom. I really don’t think I could ever pull off polka dots and stripes, but she always does.
3.) Pocketbooks are very important.
This kid! She seriously cracks me up with her love of pocketbooks. As a collector, she is never without a purse to shove stuff into. I find all sorts of treasures in them at the end of the day – leaves, rocks, and stuffed animals. You just never know what’s going to tumble out! Once she spied the Glitter Kitty Crossbody Purse, I knew it was coming home with us.
4.) Don’t forget to get some funky shoes.
Like her Momma, my daughter hates shoes. We’d both stay barefoot all day long if we could. However, if we take our time, we can find her shoes that make her happy. On our shopping trip, she fell madly in love with all of the sparkly, glittery shoes on display. Needless to say, we left with the gold star sneakers and the blue bunny shoes!
5.) Pizzaz yourself.
I was a little confused by this, especially since she said it while jumping into the air making a starfish pose. I asked her to explain what it meant. Apparently, “Pizzaz yourself,” means to embrace who you are and own it. Whether your personality is quirky or quiet, or weird or normal, it doesn’t matter. Just be who you are. That’s some pretty sound kids fashion advice from a nine-year-old, wouldn’t you say?
