As my boys get a little bit older, we’re able to enjoy more adventures at home like monthly subscription boxes. Up until now, I had never even tried one because I wasn’t sure if the boys would like them. But with summer quickly approaching, I wanted to plan ahead and make sure I had some brain stimulating games and activities on hand for when it’s just too hot to play outside.

Once I started researching what the Best Monthly Subscription Boxes For Kids were, I was amazed at all of the options. There truly is a monthly subscription box for any kind of interest your children may have: science, drawing, exploring, computers, and more.

After reviewing a few of them with my boys, I really feel confident in recommending the five monthly subscription boxes below. They kept my boys well-entertained and I feel like they were worth the cost.

The Best Monthly Subscription Boxes For Kids

Groovy Lab in a Box: It’s Electric!

I love science and because of that, my children LOVE science. Mixing materials to create an explosion or making gems is just a few of our favorite activities to do together. If you’re an experiment nerd like we are, this is the subscription box for you! I can’t rave enough about the creativity from this company. There were SO many projects to complete like learning about static electricity with a balloon, creating a magic show, setting up paper circuits, and so much more. My oldest son loved writing down what he learned in his Lab Notebook that was provided and the younger ones were able to participate in the fun as well. Groovy Lab in a Box is easy to use for all ages and has a wonderful educational aspect. You can purchase single boxes on their website or pay a monthly fee between $24.95 and $29.95 depending on your preferences. See our coupon below to Save 25% on your first month’s subscription!

Green Kid Crafts

I love companies that focus on being earth friendly and Green Kid Crafts certainly delivers on this front! This month, we had a robot-inspired box that went over really well with my boys. Coincidentally, there were three different types of robots to create, which was perfect for us because they could all share. Each child quickly ripped open their bags and was easily able to follow the instructions. Using the pictures, even my youngest was able to stick eyes to his cup and tape the markers on. The only downside was that one of the robots needed extra materials (cardboard and a binder clip) that I didn’t have laying around. I would recommend checking the box prior to getting your children excited to play with it just in case! Green Kid Crafts was one of the more inexpensive subscription boxes we received at $19.99 per month and it’s cheaper if you pay for future months in advance!

Bitsbox

My oldest son is six and he loves offering up suggestions as to how games could be better, so when he received his Bitsbox to begin coding apps with, he was ecstatic. I wasn’t sure if he would be old enough to use it, but with the simple instructions and fun tools they provide, anyone can do it. Each box contains coding games from simple to advanced and within no time he was solely working on the advanced apps and loving every second of it. Ranging from $19.95 to $44.95 per month, your memberships can be personalized to fit your child’s age and computer fluency.

Waltlife

This magical box of Disney goodies provides imagination-filled activities or toys for your little ones. This box was perfect for kids of all ages, which worked well for us because my boys could share. Our pixie dust covered box was Beauty and The Beast themed, which was super fun since we just saw the new movie in the theater. My oldest loved the jump rope and immediately went outside to play with it. The baby has enjoyed his pool float and loves peeking through the window to see underwater. And, my middle child happily claimed “dibs” on Cogsworth and sleeps with it every night. The boxes range from $20 to $48 per month and for the ultimate Disney fans, it’s definitely worth it! We were so excited to see our treasure chest at the front door and already look forward to next month! Use coupon code: WALTLIFE to Save 5% OFF any subscription.

Surprise Ride

This one was my middle child’s favorite monthly subscription box. At four, he rarely sits still long enough to watch a movie because he’d rather be exploring under the couch or climbing trees. Surprise Ride is perfect for him because it helps expand children’s creativity and assists them in thinking outside the box. When this box arrived, we had the most adventurous day filled with giggles, crafts and fun facts. The best part? It comes with a themed snack, which is definitely the way to my son’s heart (and mine). Memberships run from $17.95 to $20.95 per month depending on how long you want to commit to the program. Everything inside is not only worth it, but it’s a great way for kids to use their minds and imagination over the summer.
