Banana Peanut Butter Dog Cookie Recipe

This week, September 19-25th is National Dog Week! Our dogs are happily celebrating with this delicious homemade banana peanut butter dog cookie recipe.

This week, September 19-25, is National Dog Week! Birdy and Libby, our two English Setters, are thrilled to have an entire week dedicated to their species, but the cats, however, are non-too-pleased! Regardless of Simon and Roscoe’s feline disdain for “man’s best friend,” I whipped up some tasty dog treats for my beloved pooches.

This Banana Peanut Butter Dog Cookie Recipe is made with ingredients right in your pantry and are super easy to make. Plus, they don’t require any cutting. Just plop some dough onto your cookie sheet and bake away! I swear this Banana Peanut Butter Dog Cookie Recipe looks so much like real cookies that my sister almost ate one, so make sure you toss them right into the dog treat jar. But don’t expect them to last very long – Birdy and Libby inhaled half a plate right out of the oven, so I guess they’re dog-approved!

BANANA PEANUT BUTTER DOG COOKIE RECIPE  

Ingredients:

• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 cup cooking oats
• 1/2 cup wheat germ
• 2 eggs, lightly whisked
• 3 ripe bananas, mashed
• 1/2 cup peanut butter
• 1 cup water
• 1 egg white, to brush on cookie tops before baking

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 300F. Generously, coat two baking sheets with cooking spray.

Step 2: In a large bowl, add flour, oats and wheat germ; mix.

Step 3: In a separate bowl, mash bananas. Then add eggs, peanut butter, and water; combine.

Step 4: Make a well in the flour mixture, and pour wet ingredients into it. Mix thoroughly.

Step 5: Drop cookie-sized balls of dough onto the cookie sheets. Brush some egg whites on top of the cookies. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Leave on baking sheets to cool for 5 minutes, and then remove to a wire rack to continue cooling. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
