School is around the corner for many of us, which for me – means a mad dash to get organized. Things can get a bit hectic when I find myself juggling my work schedule, the kid’s school schedule and the myriad of after school activities. To keep the last minute running around down to a minimum, I make sure I have a rock solid schedule at home. Everything is mapped out, complete with extra time for changing clothes when those milk spills occur.  If you are looking to streamline your morning and make sure everyone is sent off to school or work with a smile, these tips should help.

Practicing these steps with your child the night before will ensure an easier morning.

Show them a schedule of their day.

Have a calendar where they can see it. Nothing can prepare a child for their week ahead, like a calendar. We have a large dry-erase calendar on the wall next to our kitchen table. Each night when we sit down for dinner, we talk about what the next day will bring. Each of our children can see if they have an activity after school, a doctor’s appointment or a play date. The calendar helps take the anxiety out of their day. They feel comfortable and confident knowing how their day will go.

Have your children pick out their clothes.

As a child, my mother always let us pick out our own clothes. As long as our outfit “mostly” matched and we looked presentable for school, it was our choice to make. The only rule we had to follow was that our clothing needed to be completely picked out the night before. That meant from our hair bows down to our socks. I have my children follow the same rule and it makes for a much easier morning. Nothing grinds your early morning to a stop like looking for a missing shoe.

Pick out lunch and after school snacks.

When my daughter first started kindergarten, packing her lunch would give me a nervous breakdown each morning. She was a picky eater and I could never figure out what to pack her. I would lose precious minutes each morning as I ran through the laundry list of lunch/snack combinations. Needless to say, I don’t do that anymore. Now I have each of my children tell me exactly what they want for lunch. I write it down on a slip of paper and while they have their breakfast I get to work packing their lunches. No more asking did you say apple juice or water? Plain milk or chocolate milk?

Just when I thought I had my morning routine down to a science, I stumbled across NatureBox. They deliver a world of carefully sourced and nutritionist-approved food right to your door. Each snack contains wholesome ingredients – with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. For me, NatureBox becomes a huge time saver at the grocery store. I no longer have to lose time scrutinizing the ingredients on their snacks, I know with NatureBox, it will be healthy!

With NatureBox, you’ll receive five different snacks every month. You can choose the snacks you want or you can let them choose for you. I also love that you can tailor your selection to your dietary preference. Dairy free? Wheat free? Nut free? Not a problem! I was able to find something for everyone in my family to enjoy. I was thoroughly impressed with the packaging (no smashed or squished snacks.)

I was also thrilled with how fresh the products tasted. The Chocolate Quinoa Granola was perfectly crunchy and the Dark Cocoa Nom Noms were soft and sweet. The best part? I know what every single ingredient on the package is. That alone makes lunch packing for my children a happy experience! If you are interested in trying NatureBox here is a special treat for you!

Love our Naturebox subscription! It has made the snack shopping so much easier. We each have our own favorites…I might have to order more each month! Thanks for the prep tips. My daughter starts kindergarten in a few weeks and I get hives thinking about how we are going to manage a new schedule!
