If you’ve been reading We Know Stuff for awhile, you know that my sister and I share a very close and special relationship. We share the same sense of humor and enjoy each other’s company. This is a pretty important aspect of our relationship, when you work with your sister and live just a few short blocks away! Over the years we have found ourselves with the great fortune to start and raise our families together.

We had all of our children within six months of each other, which resulted in our children having built in playmates for life. Our oldest children are four months apart and our youngest are six months apart. We believe in the mantra “it takes a village” and we often find ourselves swapping kids back and forth. They are together more often then they are not and when they are not playing in a big tangled group, they pair off to enjoy quieter activities. Together we share responsibilities when it comes to car pooling “our” children to after school activities and sports.

As much fun as it is for the kids to be able to have a play date at the drop of a hat, it is also really nice for the parents. I know that I always have someone to rely on in case of an emergency or when my husband and I need some alone time. My sister knows I am around to support her and lend a helping hand. We swap kids for sleepovers whenever we can, and the kids love being able to spend the night at their very own home away from home.
Being able to send my kids to my sister’s home for a night or eve a weekend with no stress is a wonderful feeling. I know she will always make them a yummy dinner, have their favorite desserts and read them their beloved bed time story. When we have sleepovers for our kids, we try to make it a special event that usually involves a fun treat or activity.

This past weekend we had another sleepover, and it was my turn to come up with a special and creative activity for them. Knowing that they would be waking up early, bright eyed and bushy tailed wondering “what was next” I decided on a breakfast treat. As they finished waking up whomever in the house wasn’t awoken by our imaginary rooster, I went to work in the kitchen.

I set up a serve yourself waffle bar complete with fresh fruit, chocolate chips, maple syrup and granola. The kids spent the morning trying to one up each other with their incredible Eggo waffle creations. I was glad I stocked up on Eggo waffles at my local Walmart, especially since they said they want to have a Waffle Bar for each and every sleepover! If you are a big fan of Eggo waffles, (like us) – you can visit them on FaceBook and Tumblr.
What toppings would your kids love your to include in your #EggoWaffleBar?
And now I’m off to catch up on some sleep!

What a fun idea! We have company coming in town next week, and I’m totally going to set up a waffle bar on our kitchen counter. Fresh blueberries and shredded coconut sound like the perfect waffle toppings to me! #client
