Dutch Wonderland, Lancaster, PA

https://www.weknowstuff.us.com Dutch Wonderland
This summer, like most of our summers went flying by entirely too fast. Most days I found myself overwhelmed with how many activities we had planned. Other days there wasn't much to do. We caught a rare break this past week, my husband wasn't traveling and the kids summer activities had just wrapped up. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to pack the car and get away for a little bit.

We knew we wanted to do something geared completely towards the kids, one last hurrah for them before school started. With my kids being 5 & 6, most amusement parks are too big, too fast and too scary. I wasn't entirely sure what we could do with them. By this point in the summer they are usually beached and pooled out.

Then we found out about Dutch Wonderland, a Kingdom for Kids in Lancaster, PA. I couldn't believe there was an entire park dedicated to kid size rides. Being a huge scaredy cat myself (I found the log floom terrifying), I was overjoyed that I could go on the rides with my kids!

Here’s what else you need to know:

Pros: Lots and lots of kid friendly rides. Parents can go on just about all of the rides which is a huge plus for families with toddlers! So many places to eat at the park, including Merlin's which opens before the park does. (This is great if you arrive early.) Plenty of restrooms. This park is completely designed with children in mind.

Cons: Lines. Like most amusement parks, the lines can be a little long and the kids can get a bit cranky.

Where to eat: Numerous restaurants such as Merlin's, Nathan's Famous, Noble Roman’s Pizza, Sharky’s Grill and the Potato Patch. If you are just looking for a snack there are numerous ice cream and snack shacks along the way.

What to bring: the usual including your camera; hats and sunglasses; anti-bacterial hand cleanser.

Admission: 2013 Day Tickets
