My sister and I spend a lot of time carpooling together in our cars. Our children participate in a lot of the same activities and we often find ourselves piling the crew into one car. We have the same exact 9 passenger SUV, which was a well thought out plan for us. Much to the dismay of our husbands, we do absolutely everything together – including carpooling. (Hey at least our cars aren’t the same color, because that would definitely make things weird.)
I love having my sister as my traveling companion. We always have plenty to talk about and find ourselves laughing louder than the kids. We share the same taste in music, which results in many over the top karaoke sessions in my car. We have also perfected the art of whispering just below the level of the kids hearing, so we can talk about all the important things that we don’t want the kids to hear. Like – what are we going to do without Game of Thrones?
This past spring we spent a lot of time carpooling together. We found ourselves traveling back and forth to swimming lessons, lacrosse practices and baseball games on a daily basis. Recently my copilot, decided to make a shocking confession from the passenger seat.
“Your snacks stink, you don’t have any fun stuff.”
I had no idea my sister had such high maintenance snack requests. After all, this was my mommy bus – not the dressing room of a pop starlet! As I stared at her in shock, I told her it was she that strong armed , convinced me to have healthy snacks available. Peanuts, dried cherries, GORP – you know things that won’t fill them up too much before dinner. How in the world could she say I had stinky snacks!
I asked her to explain, and explain she did.
“You like salty, I like sweet. The kids eat healthy, so it’s ok to let them have sweet treats occasionally. You need some fun stuff, we get stuck in traffic a lot. Something you can toss to them when they get whiny!”
After I kicked her out of my car I thought about what she said. She was right, just like Cookie Monster. “A cookie is a sometime food.”
Imagine her surprise when I packed my center console with a few grab-and-go OREO 2ct packs. The OREO 2-pack is perfect for a quick treat carpooling to family activities. The packs contain two cookies per pack, which is the perfect serving size to satisfy your sweet tooth on-the-go. My kids also loved them, nothing says fun like having their own little package of cookies for a little snack!
