This Ghost Cupcake-Cake is so simple to make and is the perfect Halloween dessert to bring to a holiday party. No need for forks, just take one and go!
Over Columbus Day weekend, my husband and I hosted his extended family over at our house for an annual Regan Family Get Together. While I was making some Mini Triple-Treat Cupcakes for our guests, I spied a lonely box of cake mix in the pantry.
I had just finished reading the October issue of Family Fun magazine and knew exactly what I was going to do with that sad little box…I would make the adorable Ghost Cupcake-Cake that was featured in their tricks and treats section.
The kids outnumber the adults nowadays, so I knew they’d get a kick out of this easy peasy Halloween-themed dessert. Plus, cupcakes are the perfect dessert for large crowds – you can just grab one and go! Forks are optional…
- 1 box of cake mix
- 1 container of white frosting (or make this Homemade Butter Cream Frosting)
- 1 tube of black decorator gel (or use cocoa powder with a little water)
Step 1.) Bake cake according to package directions for cupcakes. Cool cupcakes completely on a wire rack.
Step 2.) Once cupcakes are fully cooled, arrange them in a ghost shape. Then use an offset spatula to spread the frosting into a smooth layer. Add facial features with black decorator gel.
