So after weeks of anticipation, my Amaryllis finally bloomed. It was a lovely site, but the color just wasn't right! If you recall from my previous posts, I potted up two Double Amaryllis 'White Snow', but what bloomed is definitely not snowy white.
I'm a bit disappointed because I really wanted to grow white Amaryllis this season, but alas, the red ones are just as pretty too. And, as much as I'd like to call the nursery center to complain, I've decided to wait until I see what the second Amaryllis will do.
Healthwise, the second Amaryllis is growing strong and steady; these really are very healthy bulbs. However, once it blooms, I will ask the garden center for a credit because at $12.99 per bulb – that's just too pricey for it to bloom the wrong color.
Note: Although I included links to Van Bourgondien's site as a place to purchase Amaryllis and Paperwhite bulbs, I did not buy these Amaryllis from their catalog. I purchased both the Amaryllis and Paperwhites at a local gardening center near my home.
