Homemade Cinnamon Cake Donuts: Fresh From The Oven

wks_cakedonuts

My sister is the best and she always sends me the greatest gifts! She recently sent me a Mini Donut Pan like this one from Stonewall Kitchen and it’s adorable. I mean who doesn’t love all things tiny and cute? More importantly, who doesn’t love donuts?!

The kids were so excited about the idea of having freshly made donuts whenever they wanted them. Unfortunately for them, it was their bedtime when I opened up my gift, so they had to wait. With visions of cinnamon cake donuts dancing in their heads, they happily went off to bed. But not without making me promise I would make them homemade donuts the very next morning.

When I agreed to their request, I had no idea my daughter would be crawling into our bed at 5:30 AM the next morning just so I could make her some special donuts! So I groggily took her hand and we stumbled down the stairs together. I flipped on the coffee pot and we started our (very) early morning making some donuts.

I couldn’t believe how quick and easy they were to make – even at that hour of the morning. Before we knew it, my daughter and I had made a platter piled high with mini donuts before my husband and son even made it out of their beds!

CINNAMON CAKE DONUTS

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 325. Coat the donut pan with cooking spray. Mix together flour, sugar, baking

Step 2: In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter, eggs, milk, vanilla, nutmeg & cinnamon. Mix well.

Step 3: Fill each Donut Hole 2/3 fulls. Bake 8 minutes. Remove from pan and allow to cool completely on a cooling rack.

Step 4: Using room temperature icing, frost donuts. Decorate with candy of your choosing and arrange on a platter for everyone to drool over.

Enjoy your donuts!
