I have a thing for unique-looking pumpkins – white, green, blue, striped – you name it, I want to bring it home. Unfortunately, I get overruled each and every time we go pumpkin picking. It’s not that I don’t love a perfectly orange pumpkin to carve the night before Halloween, it’s just that sometimes I want something a little different.

But when you live in a house full of Traditionalists, you have to get creative. So this year, when I saw this nifty little craft in Lowe’s Creative Ideas for Home & Garden, I knew I would get my chance to sneak in an odd colored pumpkin into the mix!

I waited until Michael’s put their Craft Pumpkins on sale, and went in and snatched up a 13″, cream-colored one like Mr.%20Light%20Funkin%20Artificial%20Pumpkin%20Season%20D%C3%A9cor,%2012.5%20by%2013.5-Inch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this one. My reasoning behind buying a faux pumpkin instead of a real one is that I can keep it year after year, adding it to my collection of Halloween decorations. As for the The%20Hillman%20Group%20843141%204-Inch%20Flush-Mount%20Black%20House,%20Number%201" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Numbers, I found some really neat looking ones at Lowe’s the other day, but I’m sure you can pick them up at any local hardware store.

Anyway, this craft is so incredibly easy to do that even this not-so-crafty-sister was able to do it!

Outdoor House Number Ideas: Funkin Pumpkin Craft

Materials:

  • 1, 13″ Craft Pumpkin (go crazy and pick a cool color!)
  • 1 set of The%20Hillman%20Group%20843141%204-Inch%20Flush-Mount%20Black%20House,%20Number%201" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Numbers (in a contrasting color to your pumpkin so they stand out)
  • A hammer (to tap the nails in)

Directions:

Step 1: Place your craft pumpkin on a steady surface. Line house numbers up, one at a time, in the desired spot on the pumpkin. Push the little nails that came with the house numbers into the pumpkin. You may need a hammer to tap them in (I did). Set your pumpkin in a highly trafficked area and enjoy!

Denine

This is such a great idea, I might have to have 2 pumpkins next to each other for my numbers but that would look good too. This is a perfect way to dress up the front porch.

Okay I am totally jealous, why didn’t I think of this super easy craft. Love it. Knowing me, I will probably add glitter to the # so it can shine or maybe reflect paint so we can see it at night.

I am in love with your flamingo. I am secretly hoping that Lowes still has a few left over now. I am a fan of white pumpkins. I put a monogrammed letter on mine because we are always moving. Awesome project!

This is so cool! I have more numbers than you do, but I still think I could make it work.

This craft is SO cute! I love it. Now… if only I can find a pumpkin and make mine look as cute as yours!! And… find a way to fit 5 numbers on a small pumpkin. 😉

I totally agree the foam/faux pumpkin would be much better and like you said they last longer. Why spend more money each year? You could’ve even got the orange ones and it would look cool. I like them much better because it is less of a mess. I plan on buying a few and having the kids help me decorate them for the front porch.
