Holiday Product Review: Kid Puzzles – AlphaWorm Puzzle

We recently had the opportunity to review a puzzle from Kid Puzzles. My son happens to be a "Puzzle Boy" and has never come across a puzzle that he couldn't finish in record time. Seriously, if you blink, you'll miss it. (Yes, I am bragging.) But with that said, he tends to get bored of his puzzles very quickly, so I am constantly adding to our stock of puzzles.

So when I was asked which puzzle I would like to review, I chose the AlphaWorm design because my "Puzzle Boy" loves the alphabet! When I opened up the puzzle, I was pleased to see that it wasn't just another simple match-the-shape puzzle.

The AlphaWorm puzzle stresses the importance of knowing the difference between an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter. (The puzzle pieces have the uppercase letters on them, but the inside of the puzzle has the lowercase letters on it.) I immediately like that even though my son might have a capital "B" in his hands, in order to finish the puzzle, he would need to recognize that he had to put it in the lowercase "b" space. The creators of this puzzle obviously put a lot of thought into the design of this puzzle.

I also liked that the AlphaWorm puzzle is very durable. My daughter and son pull this puzzle out at least once a day and play with it over and over again. It has yet to show any signs of wear, which is quite impressive. I have retrieved the alphabet pieces from behind my tv, under the couch and even from the vacuum cleaner without a single ding or dent!

In addition to the educational value that I felt the puzzle had, I also learned that the AlphaWorm puzzle (and the entire Kid Puzzles line) are hand-made from eco-friendly materials. This made me happy because I am one of "those moms" that flips over the toys before I buy them to check to see where they are made. Kid Puzzles are non-toxic and made in the USA; it doesn't get any better than that when I'm looking for a safe toy for my children.
