esoteric HEARTS sells unique jewelry for the not so ordinary girl. I enjoy making jewelry with a natural and organic feel. My personal style is eclectic and bohemian with a fun and girly edge. I think my store reflects that style. Many of my designs are one of a kind.

Can you tell us how you came up with the name esotericHEARTS?  

I Initially wanted to use the name ‘wild HEARTS’, but it was taken.  I searched for a synonym to ‘wild’ that would get people’s attention. I came across the word ‘esoteric’ (understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest) and I knew the word and its definition fit my style perfectly. While I want as many people as possible to shop at my Etsy store, I want my customers to have an appreciation for the special beauty and quality that I put into my work.

Your work is just lovely. Being a Long Islander, I love collecting shells, beach glass, and washed-up-treasures – I imagine that you enjoy doing the same? 

The beach is absolutely my favorite place to be and just like you, and many people, I enjoy collecting shells, beach glass, and other treasures! Since I live in New Jersey, I’m not too far away from the ocean. I spend lots of time in Long Beach Island and Asbury Park. Asbury Park is a very artsy community and I always get many ideas for my jewelry there. Also, when I get the chance, I go up to Ogunquit, Maine. I love the rocky coast, the crystal clear water, and the sunrises and sunsets up there, it’s a very intoxicating experience.

What else besides the beach inspires you? 

Music! I’ve been playing the flute since elementary school and a variety of other instruments. Music inspires everything I do, especially art and jewelry making. I’m also an avid concert goer. Going to shows made me want to create jewelry for others since most of the compliments I receive about my jewelry are at concerts.

What do you love most about selling on Etsy?  

Being a full time college student, Etsy allows me to work around my schedule. Having the freedom to work when I want to is very important to me. Also, I love talking with people from all over the world. It gives me a chance to get acquainted with a variety of people and it gives me a different perspective about life in general.

Any final thoughts?

I have great parents who have always encouraged me to try different things. My mom has an Etsy store and my dad has lots of business experience, so I have plenty of support when I need it. I’m a very creative person who isn’t afraid to make a product out of the ordinary. I’ve found that being unique is a great way to express myself since I am a quiet person. I love that Etsy allows me to be my own boss and all the other wonderful opportunities it provides me to pursue.
