Gardening Book Giveaway: Herb Gardening, from Better Homes & Gardens

As I've mentioned before, we love to garden over here at We Know Stuff. We're not overly picky about what we garden with, but truth be told, we prefer items that have some serious staying power like herbs and perennials. Or, even better – perennial herbs!

Herb gardening is one of my guilty pleasures. Back in the day, when my husband and I were "DINKS" (double income, no kids), I used to plant up potted herb gardens for my lovely staff at K. Van Bourgondien & Sons. I would scour our local gardening centers for my tried-and-true favorites, but then I'd always throw in something flashy or new to keep each basket individualized. My staff loved receiving a gift that could really be used – and I loved making them a heartfelt present.

Once I became a SAHM, my herb gardening took a backseat for a few years while I tended to bottles and diapers – and then potty training and picky palettes. But now, my munchkins are able to tend the gardens with me – and they really enjoy the whole "farm-to-table" concept.

My little girl has really gotten into watering the plants and does so with gusto (oftentimes, getting herself soaking wet is part of the process). Whereas my son is just old enough to carefully cut our herbs all by himself (little does he know that I watch him out the window like a hawk) and bring them in for me to spice up our dishes with. It's really lovely watching them develop a passion for gardening.

Which is why I'm delighted to offer up yet another Gardening-themed Giveaway item: Better Homes & Gardens new book, herb gardening. It's also worth mentioning that my favorite part of this book is the herb encyclopedia with over 80 herbs highlighted and discussed in great detail. (I know – dork alert!)
