Baked apples make a hearty, wholesome after school snack idea. Our Easy Baked Apple Recipe is fresh from the oven in just 30 minutes!
Every fall, we go apple picking. And every fall, we end up with a peck of apples to get creative with. In the past, I’ve made Apple Jam, Apple Bread, Dutch Babies – the list goes on and on.
But I’ve never made baked apples – not ever. So after a recent apple picking extravaganza, I decided to make some baked apples and I wasn’t disappointed.
The end result was soft, sweet and truly delicious. If I wasn’t pawning it off on my kids as a tasty afternoon snack, I would have served it a la mode for dessert. I beg you to try them – they’re absolutely delicious!
I recommend using a variety that holds its shape well when baked (we used Gala, but see Woodside Farms helpful chart for more ideas) and then just stuff them full of all sorts of good things – cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins, apricot preserves – the possibilities are endless!
Ingredients:
- 2 apples, sliced in half and cored
- 1/4 cup diced walnuts
- 1/4 raisins
- 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Cinnamon sugar, for dusting on top
Directions:
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 ºF. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Divide toppings among the apple halves and bake in the oven, on the middle rack, for 30 minutes, or until tender. If apples brown too quickly, tent with foil.
