This will be the first Halloween in over 5 years that my sister and I will not be spending together. Boo…hoo. I couldn’t bare the thought of not seeing my sister’s little munchkins dressed up in all their costumed glory, so we decided a pre-Halloween party was in order!

No party is ever complete without goody bags so I asked my little monsters to help me come up with an idea of how to make them extra special. After much discussion, they agreed on these fun little batty party favors.

HALLOWEEN BAT DECORATIONS

Materials:

  • Black can coolie
  • Black foam sheet
  • White foam sheet
  • Google eyes
  • Hot glue gun

Directions:

Step 1: Start by drawing a bat wing on a piece of white paper. This will be the stencil.

Step 2: Have the kids trace the stencil on the back of the black paper. Remember to have them flip the stencil over to make the opposite wing. (Otherwise you will end up with 2 left or 2 right wings – yes, I am telling you this from experience.) Have them cut the wings out with safety scissors.

Step 3: Hot glue the wings to the can coolie for them (unless your children are old enough to handle a hot glue gun.)

Step 4: Have kids practice their shapes by drawing 2 triangles on the white foam paper. The triangles will be the bat’s teeth. Cut out with safety scissors.

Step 5: Glue the teeth to coolie. Glue on googles eyes.
