This super easy Barbecue Brie Recipe is incredibly delicious and just so gosh darn easy to make, you’ll smack yourself upside the head for not thinking of it sooner. Top it with local honey, dried cranberries, and nuts for the perfect summer appetizer!
I love entertaining in the summer, but as I mentioned in my Grilled Bruschetta Caprese post, I hate being locked away in my kitchen. So last spring, I was on a quest to find lots of tasty, new appetizers that could be made outside, on the grill. That’s right – on the grill – so I could hang out with my guests and entertain like I was supposed to.
I was trying to come up with an alternative to the traditional cheese and cracker platter. You know, the one that hasn’t changed since your Grandma started serving it 8 gazillion years ago? Yeah, that one. Well, I’m a huge fan of Brie and during the holidays, I make this really incredible Baked Brie with Homemade Cranberry Jam (Yep, I just tooted my own horn. Toot. Toot.) and I wanted to know if I could make something similar, yet less filling, on the grill.
After researching bbq brie on my favorite search engine, I found out that you really could barbecue brie. Who knew? Well, now I do! This Barbecue Brie is incredibly delicious and is so gosh darn easy to make, you’ll smack yourself upside the head for not thinking of it sooner.
I like to load ours up with dried cranberries, pecans, walnuts, or almonds (pretty much any nut will work, except maybe for peanuts) and drizzle some beautiful local honey on top. Your guests will be amazed and no one will ever know how incredibly easy this bbq brie recipe is to make…unless you tell them!
BARBECUE BRIE RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 1 round of brie
- local honey
- dried cranberries
- nuts (I love almonds and/or pecans for this!)
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat the grill on low heat.
Step 2: Wrap your round of brie in tinfoil. Make a packet with the brie sitting in the center and fold the edges up and over.
Step 3: Cook the brie on low heat for 15 minutes. Then remove from heat.
Step 4: Carefully unwrap your brie, and using a very sharp, fine knife, cut the top layer off of the brie.
Step 5: Artfully toss on some cranberries and nuts – and drizzle with honey.
Step 6: Arrange water crackers on a platter.
Step 7: Show Mommy the piggy and chill out with your guests.
Have fun with your guests,
Denine
