When the kids were little, we used to lame out and fill their stockings with all sorts of practical gifts. Toothbrushes? Check. Socks? Check. Hair barrettes? Check. If it was b-o-r-i-n-g, in the stocking it went.
But once the kids found out that Mom and Dad filled the stockings and Santa put the good stuff under the tree, we were outed. No more blaming Santa Claus for all of the lame, not-so-fun goodies in their stockings. Needless to say, we had to up our A-game.
