Every child has a strong sense of what their home smells like and anytime they catch a whiff of that fragrance, they’re immediately reminded of their family. When I think about my childhood home, I can still smell my Mother’s spaghetti sauce cooking on the stove, the scent of freshly cut grass after my Dad mowed the lawn, and the aroma of salt water coming in off the bay. Anytime I catch a whiff of these everyday things, I think of my family.
I love this connection of “family through our sense of smell,” which is why we’ve partnered with American Home™ by Yankee Candle®. With the holiday season in full swing, fragrances are the keystone of happy holiday memories and help create a joyful atmosphere. But we all know that any old fragrance just won’t do.
It has to be something that speaks to you and welcomes guests with open arms. It needs to be a fragrance that says “Welcome to our home.” This fragrance is something different for all of us, which is why the exclusive American Home™ by Yankee Candle® collection at Walmart is a perfect fit for everyone.
No matter what time of the year it may be, you can always find a fragrance that suits your home’s personality. In my home, you’ll always find scents reminiscent of being outside or cooking in the kitchen. I recently had Homemade Pumpkin Pie and Shades of Fall burning on my fireplace mantle, but now that Christmas is here, I replaced them with Warm & Happy Home and Sugar Coated Cinnamon.
I’m a big fan of these candles for many reasons. Not only do they offer a clean burn from start to end, but their rich fragrances have a long lasting aromatic impact. This means that I get to enjoy the fragrance long after I’ve blown out the candle! I also love their large, sturdy glass containers. They’re the perfect shape for my fireplace mantle and they seamlessly transition through the seasons.
I also like to add some seriously simple flair to my candles using everyday ribbon. This look is so easy to do, but I have to say – it creates quite an impact. The results look amazing and it’s an easy way to incorporate all of your favorite candles into your holiday decor.
This way, if I’m in the mood for an organic looking arrangement with just candles and pine swags, I can do it. Or, if I’m in the mood for a more minimalist set-up with just the ribbon wrapped candles, I can do that too!
I also find that these ribbon wrapped candles make perfect last minute gifts. Although I do keep a pretty detailed list with everyone on it, but sometimes, people drop by and you like to be prepared. I always make a few extra ribbon wrapped candles and place them in a cute holiday bag to keep by the front door. This way, I always have a beautiful and practical holiday gift on hand.

Candle Safety Tips
- Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface, keep it out of drafts and NEVER leave it unattended while lit.
- Please make sure the candle wicks are cut 1/8 of an inch to ensure the flame isn’t too large
- Each time you burn your candle, allow the entire top layer to become a fragrant pool of liquid wax and you’ll get the biggest, boldest fragrance possible.
- When only ½” of the wax remains, it’s time to let your candle go.
Happy Holidays,
