SpineScreen App Can Help Detect Possible Signs of Scoliosis in Children

This post was sponsored by Shriners Hospitals for Children. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own. Learn how the SpineScreen App Can Help Detect Possible Signs of Scoliosis in Children.

Like most parents, as exciting as back to school time is, I don’t love the craziness that tends to come with it. Slow summer days are promptly replaced by frenzied school supply shopping and never-ending to do’s lists. This can leave parents and children feeling rushed and a bit stressed. Not exactly the ideal way to wrap up summer.

I know when I am feeling rushed, I tend to miss things. Sometimes they are little things, like forgetting to put book fair money in my child’s backpack. Not necessarily the end of the world, but an oversite nonetheless. Sometimes they are big things, like missing a doctor’s appointment that I scheduled months in advance. Overall I really dislike the feeling that lingers when you know you’ve missed something.

Which is why Shriners Hospitals for Children has developed the new app, SpineScreen. Shriners Hospitals wants to prevent parents from missing the signs of scoliosis in children. Shriners Hospitals encourages parents to have their children screened for scoliosis annually by their pediatrician. There is no known cause for scoliosis, which is why routine exams and early detection are key.

SpineScreen, makes it easy to do a preliminary spine check on your child in the comfort of your own home. Designed by the orthopaedic specialists at Shriners Hospitals for Children, the app detects curves when the phone is moved along a child’s back, giving parents a quick way to routinely monitor their child’s spine. As this is strictly an initial check, it should be followed up by a doctor’s examination to determine if your child has scoliosis.

With the SpineScreen app, you can easily educate yourself about the signs of scoliosis. You can also perform a preliminary spine check on your child at home. The app also allows you to schedule calendar reminders for your child’s annual screening. Download SpineScreen today to do a preliminary check of your child’s spine.
