Treetop Trek Aerial Adventures

After the New Year, my oldest son brought home a resolution project. His goal for 2019 was to zip line. Being its expensive (and exhausting) to haul a family away to a rain forest destination, we scoured the internet for places that offer this adventure in Florida.

Luckily, we discovered the Brevard Zoo and Treetop Trek Aerial Adventures in Melbourne. Only an hour away from Orlando International Airport, Treetop Trek provided children and adults of all ages an incredible experience!

When arriving to Treetop we couldn’t help but get excited because the scenic setup was more than I expected. A friendly staff member is near the entrance ready to accept your tickets, provide waivers to sign and hand out zipline gear.

My two boys signed up for the Chutes & Ladders. This particular exploration is for children ages four to eight up to 60″ tall. It’s about 45 minutes and takes them through 22 elements along with two zip lines. The best part, it’s only $14.95 a child! What a steal to accomplish a New Years resolution! And so much more fun than a gym membership!

The staff was happy to get the boys in their gear and provide a quick training lesson. The first 11 elements were tricky, but entertaining for the boys since they weren’t too high off of the ground. I couldn’t help admire my oldest sons willingness to help his little brother and cheer on kids we didn’t know.

After the first zip line, their adrenaline was at its peak as they climbed aboard the next obstacle. I have to warn you, the next set is much higher and more scary. They each had their moments of hesitation, but broke past their fears and crossed difficult elements such as walking along a swinging log with such pride! I MAY have teared up witnessing it.

With their own adult set of obstacles, adults can also zip line above the zoo, breaking at multiple stops to view each different animal. How cool is that?!

Below are some tips and fun facts to plan your visit:

Get there early and purchase tickets online which will make the process a lot faster and easier, especially with kids in tow.

Military discounts are offered at the ticket window. Enjoy $5 off select adventures!

If you have toddlers, come prepared to hold them or wear a carrier. Adults must walk through the zip line elements with the kids. Strollers will be difficult to navigate through the dirt.

Don’t forget to continue your outing at the Brevard Zoo!

The zoo was excellent at providing educational opportunities at every turn. With Discovery Stations outside each continent and hands on learning tools, the boys would not stop asking questions! Plus, they actually have an area about poop – every boys dream, right??

I suggest upgrading to the Explore! Package. Worth the extra few bucks to feed the giraffe and lorikeets. We loved having birds fly on us and eat from our hands!

Check out Brevard Zoo & Treetop Trek website for more activities!
