Flashback Fridays: Zucchini!

Garden Fresh Zucchini Bread www.weknowstuff.us.com
You know that Denine and I love bringing attention to our great country's lesser known holidays. Well, lucky for you – we have dug up another one…National Zucchini BREAD day. Not National Zucchini Day, but National Zucchini BREAD Day. An entire day designated to the celebration of the bread itself.

I am well aware that people generally fall into 2 categories, the lovers and the loathers. Thankfully, my sister and I fall into the zucchini lovers category. My sister in particular loves those green veggies soooo much that she plants obscene amounts of them each spring.

She always follows the same pattern. First, she thrilled to tears at the beautiful zukes her garden is producing, then she goes into a complete panic as every bowl and basket in her kitchen is filled with them. At this point, she usually starts packing them up in the middle of the night like a stealthy Red Riding Hood. Except, instead of bring bread and butter to Grandmother's house, she's dropping baskets of zucchinis on peoples doorsteps…at night…so no one can turn her zucchini away.

Which is WHY National Zucchini Bread Day falls on April 23rd. No one has had the chance to get sick of them yet! This makes perfect sense. This year, I will make sure I convince her to come up with a gluten-free version of her beloved Zucchini Bread recipe! We'll keep you posted – beacause you can obviousely never have too many zucchini bread recipes!

Enjoy!
Daniele
