Best Challah French Toast Recipe

Everyone is always looking for the “best” recipe, right? Well, I think day old Challah bread with a hint of Grand Marnier makes this the best recipe by far!
Everyone is always looking for the "best" recipe, right? Well, I think day old Challah bread with a hint of Grand Marnier makes this the best recipe by far!
In our family, the early birds are my daughter, myself and the cat. I love that I never have to set an alarm in my home. Bailey, our cat, wakes me up every morning at 5:30 AM. Not a minute before, or a minute after. Every morning, she dive bombs me in my bed until I turn on the sink so she can have some water.

As soon as I return to bed, but right before before I drift back off to sleep, my daughter silently snuggles under the covers with me. I can usually convince her to be quiet for a few short minutes, but then she insists that we start our day together, while the boys sleep in.

This cold morning, when my little early bird crawled in, I couldn’t stop thinking about her icy little toes…and french toast. My mother-in-law had given us a huge loaf of challah bread the day before, so I convinced my daughter to help me surprise the sleeping beastie boys with breakfast.

After finding her pink, fuzzy slippers, we tip-toed down the stairs to the kitchen to make french toast. I was a bit out of my element because my husband loves to make the french toast. Usually, I just sit back and watch with a nice cup of coffee. But, he was asleep, so I put this recipe together. The adult version uses a splash of Grand Marnier, but I omitted it for the kiddie batch.

If you find yourself with day old challah bread or brioche, you should try some of this french toast. Your family will happily find their slippers and join you!
