I saw this great Halloween craft for “Scaredy Cats” in Good Housekeeping magazine. They used full sized pumpkins with gourds for the tails. I fell in love with these glamorous pumpkin cats, but wanted to make a smaller version to use as an inside Halloween decoration. I was inspired by the gourd tails and came up with these Glitzy Gourd Kitties.

This craft is a great activity for school-aged children. They can easily help you paint the gourds and attach the eyes, ears and noses themselves – but they may need some help with the toothpick whiskers! These little gourd kitties are pretty durable DIY decorations and we often have them still hanging around the house until Thanksgiving!
