Quick and Easy Smores are a Sure Fire Fun Summer Dessert

Summer break is almost over in New York and we are bummed. We are making our favorite fun summer dessert as many different ways as we can. Cheers to smores!

Depending on where you live, your kids might already be back in school. (Lucky for you, but not so lucky for them.) Here in New York, the kids are still on summer break. Unfortunately, it is quickly coming to an end. We are trying very hard to squeeze summer fun into every last minute of our days. Which means perfecting our favorite fun summer dessert, SMORES!

Right now, we are making the most out four long summer nights by making sweet, sticky smores for dessert with the help of our trusty fire pit. What better time to celebrate the end of summer with one of my favorite holidays – National Toasted Marshmallow Day!

Toasted marshmallows just may be the most delicious fun summer dessert. Personally, I don’t even need the chocolate or grahams – I just love a perfectly toasted marshmallow. Slightly charred and crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside – done!

My daughter sees me gathering up all the standard ingredients. The marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars are all piled on my tray. She stops me and requests something a little different. (I foolishly thought this was going to be easy!) I know this should be my cue that I’m going overboard with the smores party every night – but I don’t care. Summer is almost over, let’s make the most of it!

The kids are playing with the chickens and I’m pulling together some special ingredients like peanut butter, bananas, and honey! My kids are busy digging up fresh worms for our hens. Somehow, our clever little hens have figured out that the kids will do anything for them, including digging worms. Now our spoiled ladies don’t bother digging for worms anymore – they know the kids will do the dirty work for them!

In the past, our Peanut Butter S’mores have always been a huge hit and so has our S’mores ice cream! I like to keep them guessing, and tonight we tried Peanut Butter Banana and Honey Smores. And next, we’ll be making Cookie Butter S’mores Candied Bacon S’mores (Have you ever had chocolate covered bacon? It’s to die for!) and maybe even Almond Joy S’mores!

FUN SUMMER DESSERT: PEANUT BUTTER BANANA SMORES

Ingredients:

  • Graham Crackers
  • Large Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Bars
  • Peanut Butter
  • Sliced Banana
  • Honey

Directions:

*Parents, remember to help your little ones and never leave your fire unattended!
  1. Get a nice toasty fire roaring in your fire pit!
  2. Assemble your smores ingredients on one graham cracker.
  3. Toast your marshmallows on a skewer. (This one is a game changer for marshmallows!)
  4. Place your marshmallow on plain graham cracker and smush on top of your other graham cracker.
  5. ENJOY!
