My kids favorite “Chocolate Smoothie” is none other than this ridiculously simple Nutella Banana Smoothie Recipe. They gobble it up whenever I make it!
The kids have off this week for Easter Break, and although I love having them home all day, I’m not thrilled that their schedules are completely off. Apparently, when you’re home from school, you don’t have to eat breakfast, or lunch, or dinner; you can just eat fruit snacks all day long.
So, after two days of the kids forgetting about breakfast, I decided to trick them into coming back to the table. While they were playing with their Legos, I made them a delicious Nutella Banana smoothie.
When I told them that they could have a “Chocolate Smoothie” for breakfast, they dashed to the table and clambered into their seats. I mean really, what child could resist a breakfast that looks and tastes like dessert?
BANANA NUTELLA SMOOTHIE RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (8 oz) skim milk
- 1 large ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon Nutella, or another hazelnut butter (I also use Justins in this recipe!)
- 4 ice cubes
Directions:
Step 1: Peel banana and break into chunks. (If your kids freak out by chunks of fruit, smash the banana with a potato masher first.)
Step 2: Place bananas, milk, ice cubes, and Nutella® into a blender. (Note: Nutella® is very sticky, and some of it may get stuck on the spoon, so you may have to lick your spoon clean before placing it into the dishwasher.)
Step 3: Place lid on blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into fancy-schmancy glasses and serve!
