Holiday Gift Ideas: Unique Toys For Kids That Spark Imagination!

Are you’re looking for unique toys for kids this holiday season? Then check out these four versatile products that promote imagination, creativity, and learning.

Each year around the holiday season, I’m always blown away by the new developments and enhancements of simple toys. Growing up in the 80’s, our choices were pretty simple but ranged from slap bracelets to Care Bears. I still remember fondly how exciting it was that Teddy Ruxpin spoke!

Nowadays, the sky is the limit with kids’ games. And as a mom who loves to discover educational factors in my children’s toys, I’ve narrowed down my list to four versatile products that promote imagination, creativity, and learning. If you’re looking for unique toys for kids this holiday season, check out my favorite picks below!

Holiday Gift Ideas: Unique Toys For Kids That Spark Imagination!

1.) Osmo

Where curiosity meets passion; Osmo is a program that allows the user to utilize their iPad and iPhone to create hands on play. The functions are truly endless. Your child can create music with Coding Jam by aligning blocks in different sequences to produce sounds and effects or Tangram which unlocks the interactive experience by excelling levels and matching puzzle pieces with images shown on your device. But, what really amazed my boys was the Osmo Creative Set. Equipped with a creative board, dry erase markers, Monster Game, Masterpiece Game, Newton Game and a fuzzy pouch, this set offers more for your money and good old fashioned play time with modern technology.

Plus, how it works is genius! Each game includes separate items to enhance the experience, but all games will require the iPad or iPhone base and the red reflector. The reflector is key to capturing the designs and images your little one develops either on the creative board or right in front of them! It was truly incredible to watch my son’s eyes light up as his creations came to life. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not very tech savvy, but the setup of each Osmo game was simple and fun! The most important factor in this product is the positive influence of screen time. We generally put a time limit on electronics because my husband and I encourage self-play or our boys to go outside. With Osmo, I have the satisfaction of knowing their wheels are always turning and they don’t even know it!

2.) Force Flyers

Specializing in various drones for any enthusiast, Force Flyers has a product for every age and budget. Our six-year-old deems himself a Master Builder so when I saw this company offered a DIY Building Block Drone, I was intrigued. Allowing users to construct their own flying machine any way they want and still incorporate the mechanics to make it fly is the ultimate STEM project. The best part is once built, this machine can be dismantled and recreated differently to determine if there are ways to fly it faster or further. The idea that the Building Block Drone can never get bored is a huge win in my book! After the holiday’s past, we always end up with a closet of overly used “boring” toys. I guarantee this will not be one of them.

For children who want to go straight for the excitement, Force Flyers has motion controlled drones that utilize Glove Force Technology. Instead of holding onto an old-school remote control, these flyers reach heights of 75 – 100 meters by movement of one’s hand and can even perform 360-degree flips. My adventurous four-year-old was especially thrilled about this item. Unfamiliar with remote controls, there was no frustration to figure out how to launch and fly. If you’re looking for the learning aspect, my husband and I enjoyed teaching the boys about aerodynamics and incorporating the scientific method in determining how high and far we can soar.

3.) Remo

I became fascinated with Remo, the world’s largest drumhead company, because of their goal to inspire young children. Remo believes everyone should have a drum because there’s a drum for everyone. And, I believe that some form of music should be a part of everyone’s world, whether you’re musically inclined or not. Unifying children and allowing them to never be wrong in the music they create, Remo is excellent for any age. My favorite aspect is their items with Comfort Sound Technology. Developed for children with sound sensitivities or sensory seeking behaviors, products such as the Kids Percussion Floor Tom delivers a warm tone for easy listening and playing!

Each of Remo’s items is phenomenal. But being that my guys are young, I chose drums based on what would mirror each child’s personality. Our youngest has not stopped playing with his Lollipop Drum. Colorful, bright and shaped like an oversized lollipop, this acoustic instrument is pre-tuned to create a warm sound. I can guarantee you will never feel as if your child is making “noise.” For larger sounds, the Kids Percussion Gathering Drum will surely deliver! Not only does the rainforest finish foster an enjoyable atmosphere, this drum promotes teamwork, which is awesome!

When initially playing, the kids were just banging and laughing. But after a short amount of time, they actually began to create solid beats and their own music. The Bongos were also a huge hit! What I loved about these products is that lessons can be taken, but your children don’t need to in order to play. It can be difficult for a child to pick up an instrument and feel confident to play and enjoy it, but Remo’s drumming activities are for everyone.

4.) Spin Master

By encouraging children to build their own robots, Spin Master promotes taking on challenges, having positive failures, and celebrating success. Spin Master created an adorable friend named M.A.X for children to design and love! M.A.X is a twelve-inch robot that not only has artificial intelligence but can also be programmed to each child’s liking. The fun part isn’t just limited to playing with him, it’s building him! Designed for older children, due to its intricate complexity, buyers will receive a box with over 300 parts included. It’s tedious and will take time, but the reward is well worth it!

M.A.X can talk, respond, has facial expressions and has a built-in gaming platform. The possibilities are endless and the friendship will last forever! Meccano is on my top pick because it promotes parents and children to work together. Building this guy launched quite a bond between my husband and oldest. Each day, they eagerly raced to their “build station” to work on it together and bounced ideas off of one another. Now, M.A.X has become a part of our family and we love him! For a long-lasting toy that instills patience and satisfaction, Meccano is the way to go.

Happy Holiday Shopping,

Gina
